when the full moon time, becouse the route we possed is save and also we’ll
enjoy the panorama of Segara Anak Lake from the Pelawangan region in the morning
before the Lake closed by the fag. The drive north from Bangsal, the jump-of
point for boattrips to the Gili’s, has a rich range of scenic variety, through
a lush area of verdant rice fields. The road runs beside the beach and the
terrain become distinctly arid. Only some dry bush here and there being fought
over by skinny goats. It’s appreciably hotter and the sea is still. We could a
round the north of the island and at Bayan we turn off and climb to the cooler
air of Batu Koq.
From Batu Koq we
could walk down to the most impressive waterfall in Lombok, Sendanggile water
with a force appropriate to running straight off one of the highest peaks in
South Asia, Mount Rinjani. Then we could drive up to the traditional, though
highly commercialized, Sasak village of Senaru with it’s thatched roofs and
rather megalithic apperance. To climb such an impressive mountain is an
unforgettable experience. Or starting points for such a trek could begin at
Senaru in the North this two or three day trek attacks Rinjani from the West
and means a descent to the awesome crater lake before again climbing up and out
and attempting to reach the summit.
